Job Description

Wise is growing fast in volume, revenue, gross margin, and customer products. Our customers already trust us with £19 Billion of their funds across 11+ licensed entities across the globe. The Safeguarding team is mission-critical and we ensure we put the safety of customer funds at the heart of what we do, as Wise continues to scale into new markets and products.

How we work

The Treasury Safeguarding Engineering Team builds and constantly improves scalable and reliable services that enable this large scale operation of safeguarding customer funds. You will develop the systems, processes and controls by which we manage financial and operational risks to customer funds, in line with local regulations around the globe in real time.

You will have very interesting challenges with high data volumes, fighting performance bottlenecks, implementing fault-tolerant solutions, and deep diving into the finance and treasury domain.

You will constantly collaborate with teams across Engineering and Analytics. You will also partner deeply with teams across the business including Operations, Finance, Compliance, Risk & Controls.

What do you need?

  • A strong product mindset, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions
  • Sense of ownership and great communication skills to drive projects across teams
  • Ability to work independently while also being a good team player. Your work will frequently involve cross-team collaboration.
  • Ability to break down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver customer value
  • Experience with common design and architectural patterns coupled with a passion for writing clean code that is performant and well tested
  • Curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement
  • Following and advocating best coding practices, continuous delivery and code reviews
  • Knowledge and experience with realtime data processing and a messaging system, like Kafka
  • Knowledge of Java and Spring boot.
  • Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, SQL query optimisation and designing schemas is a plus
