Job description

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Staff Nurse with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of the team here within our Ophthalmology department. We are a friendly team who take's pride in nurturing a friendly and supportive environment in which to work while ensuring we deliver high quality, patient-centered care to our patients.   • Ensure the rights of patients are respected at all times and assist in the provision of information, enabling informed decisions to be made about their care.
  • Positively contribute to the process of change within the department.
  • Contribute to the reduction of healthcare acquired infection by ensuring a high standard of infection control practice.
  • To ensure personal attendance at mandatory training.
  • Learn and perform new skills in relation to this specialty e.g. IV drug administration, defibrillation, venipuncture, ECG recording etc.
  • Demonstrate nursing skills to more junior members of the nursing team, to enable them to assist in the implementation of prescribed nursing actions.
  • To ensure that an individual programme of care is planned, implemented and evaluated for each patient within own sphere of responsibility.
  • To work as part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring the delivery of a high standard of car to the patients.
  • To act as team leader including taking charge in the absence of Deputy Ward Manager/Ward Manager.
  • To participate in all relevant aspects of the Governance process.
  • You will adhere to the NMC code of Professional Conduct at all times and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • To act as a positive role model at all times.
