Job description
Overview

Staff Nurse (Gynaecology)

We are an 18 bedded gynaecology ward, who work cohesively with the Consultants, advanced practitioners and Service Managers providing a dynamic, innovative, comprehensive and caring service for patients and their Carers. There is an Early Pregnancy/Emergency Gynaecology unit which is run by specialist nurses; however, there will be opportunities for you to gain knowledge and experience if interested. On Beech ward we care for outlying patients such as medical, surgical, occasionally orthopaedic and women undergoing breast surgery.

You will be the patient advocate, responsible for the day-to-day care of patients. Supporting junior colleagues and students who maybe undergoing training. We support training and development and advancement in the role.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high quality care to a defined patient group either within the acute hospital or community based setting. Responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care within the boundaries of their role.
  • Contribute to the continuing development of standards of care including developments of nursing standards and monitoring of outcomes.
  • Continue with their own professional development.
  • Support STAR values – Service, Teamwork, Ambition and Respect – as guiding principles in delivering joined up services to the local community, whether at home, in the community, or within the hospital.
  • Be the patient advocate and participate in the day-to-day care of patients, while supporting junior colleagues and students.
  • Opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in the Early Pregnancy/Emergency Gynaecology unit as available.
