Band 5 Staff Nurse - 12-Month FTC
Location: Eden Ward, Wexham Park Hospital
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Eden Ward team, supporting patients in cancer and chemotherapy services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist experience with full support to develop your skills and confidence in delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients receiving chemotherapy
- Support daily patient list coordination and workload allocation
- Administer chemotherapy safely (training provided)
- Triage and assess patients using the UKONS system
Additional Responsibilities
- Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual patient care with minimal supervision
- Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that treatments are correctly carried out in accordance with policy
- Responsible for the assessment of complex care needs of chemotherapy patients and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care
- Lead and monitor the performance and standards of care within the Nursing Team
- Work collaboratively with other members of cancer services team to facilitate development of the service

Qualifications
- RGN Level 1
- Current NMC Registration
Desirable
- Trained in the administration of chemotherapy
- Experience or training in haematology or oncology ward
- Experience or training with administration of chemotherapy
- Has experience or competent in administration of chemotherapy and care for patients undergoing cancer treatments
Experience
- Competent in basic life support and IV administration
- Experience in an acute medical nursing environment
- Teaching and supervising junior staff
- Effective working with multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience working with EPR system
Skills & Knowledge
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to manage difficult/stressful situations
- Time management and delegation skills
- Able to train and supervise junior staff
- Able to manage a team in the absence of the team leader
- Able to prioritise workload (self and others) and meet deadlines
Special Requirements
- Able to work flexible shifts, weekends and bank holidays as required
