Job Overview

Critical Care Nurse – Fixed term contract for 1 year at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Full and part time hours available. Must have critical care experience and cannot recruit newly qualified staff. The role will care for 18 critically ill patients across all medical and surgical specialities, with future opportunity to work with rehabilitation, follow‑up and outreach teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a critical care nurse following completion and assessment of critical care training.
• Act as preceptor and supervisor to junior colleagues and unqualified support staff.
• Carry out specialist nursing duties following completion of supplemented training.
• Participate in the rotation of all areas of critical care as service needs require.
• Act as a specialist core team member working a high proportion of shifts out of hours.

Qualifications

Registered nurse with a minimum of 1 year acute ward experience and desire to develop critical care knowledge and experience. Enthusiastic and committed to providing highest standards of individualized nursing care.
