About the role

We are seeking Sports Coach graduates for the 2026-2027 Academic Year to contribute to our sports, physical education and boarding programmes. Candidates should have experience as a player or early‑career coach in football, hockey, netball or rugby.

A graduate placement year in the sports department of Millfield School (senior) provides an unrivalled opportunity to develop your skills in one of the UK's leading independent schools for boys and girls, aged 13‑18 years.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver a full sports programme, including planning, coaching and support services such as athletic development, analysis and nutrition.
  • Contribute to the boarding programme for graduates residing in Millfield accommodation, typically 6 hours per week of evening duties and one weekend in three.
  • Work 39 hours per week during the academic year, with breaks for school holidays.
Qualifications
  • Recent graduate or due to graduate in July 2026 from a Sports Science, Sports Coaching or similar degree.
  • Regular participation in sport to a good standard and, ideally, holding coaching qualifications relevant to the sports mentioned.
  • Confidence, reliability, good interpersonal skills and a willingness to be involved in all areas of school life.
Benefits
  • £14,705.76 salary per annum (inclusive of holiday pay) with full board and lodgings valued at £3,341.10 for graduates living in Millfield accommodation.
  • £18,538.81 salary per annum (inclusive of holiday pay) for graduates not residing in Millfield accommodation.
  • Formal personal development programme valued at more than £2,500.
