We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team as a Duty Manager at the Chichester College Sports Centre on a full-time basis.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a keen interest in sport, leisure, fitness or related fields who wants hands-on experience in running a busy, customer-focused facility. You will gain valuable operational and leadership skills whilst working in a professional and supportive environment.

The Sports Centre Duty Manager Role:

As a Duty Manager, you will play a key part in the day-to-day running of the Sports Centre. You will be responsible for supervising staff, maintaining safety and cleanliness, setting up for activities, and ensuring our customers have a great experience.

Key Responsibilities of our Sports Centre Duty Manager:
  • Leading the daily operations of the Sports Centre, ensuring all areas are clean, well-maintained, and appropriately staffed.
  • Responding promptly and effectively to customer issues and operational challenges.
  • Providing exemplary customer service, handling queries, complaints, and feedback professionally.
  • Overseeing and motivating Sports Centre staff, ensuring they are well-trained and capable of delivering high-quality service.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, risk management, and safeguarding policies.
  • Working closely with curriculum departments to ensure academic programmes have access to required facilities and resources.
  • Analysing customer data to identify trends, forecast demand, and optimise pricing strategies.
  • Planning and delivering marketing and promotional campaigns to increase awareness and participation.
Our ideal Sports Centre Duty Manager should have the following skills and experience:
  • A strong understanding of the leisure industry and experience of managing sports or leisure facilities.
  • Proficient in using leisure booking systems.
  • Education to GCSE standard (or equivalent), grade C/4 or above including English and Maths.
  • Proven customer service and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
Our Staff Benefits:

We offer a fantastic range of staff benefits, highly competitive against what is offered by the private sector and other organizations, including:

  • Local Government Pension Scheme with the Group contributing 20.4% of your actual pensionable pay.
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing to 28 days in line with continuous service, plus bank holidays and college closure days over Christmas, which are not deducted from your leave entitlement, and a wellbeing day. You can also purchase up to 5 additional days of leave.
  • Discount schemes including discounts on shopping, restaurants, travel, and onsite facilities such as our gym and First Steps Childcare nurseries (specific campuses only).
  • Family-friendly policies including enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay (dependent on continuous service).
  • Continuous professional development opportunities including development days, funded apprenticeships, and access to various courses and activities.
  • And much more — see the Staff Benefits booklet attached to this advert for full details.

Working in a vibrant and inclusive further education college is an inspiring experience. Our staff focus on delivering outstanding teaching, learning, and support in a diverse environment that fosters personal growth and community engagement.
