A leading NHS Trust in Manchester is seeking a specialist in speech and language therapy to provide input for individuals with learning disabilities. The role involves working in diverse environments such as homes, colleges, and community centres. You will provide specialist speech and language therapy input to people with a range of learning disabilities and associated problems e.g. sensory impairments, mental health problems and physical disabilities, in their homes, colleges, local communities, day centres and work places.
There will be opportunities to further develop your skills in a variety of clinical areas e.g. AAC, dysphagia management, complex health needs, autism, risky behaviours, mental health, through clinical supervision, SLT meetings, project work and access to internal and external courses.
You will have access to some specialist IT programmes for communication support, for example Boardmaker, Grid 3. We have good working relationships with colleagues in acute and paediatric speech and language therapy, audiology, orthoptics, community nutrition and dentistry. You will also work with colleagues from a variety of other agencies e.g. Adult and children's Social Care, Greater Manchester Police, Pure Innovations, carer forums, and the many services that make up the Manchester Local Care Organisation.
