Key Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the education team to deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs.
• Practice within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, clarifying roles and responsibilities and meeting governing and professional body requirements.
• Hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
• Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
• Maintain a person‑centred, empowering approach, ensuring pupils are heard, respected and involved in decisions that affect them.

Essential Criteria
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered.
  • 1–2 years experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting.
  • Relevant experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers.
  • Interest in developing knowledge and skills across different areas of SaLT practice.
  • Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgemental skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and how to formulate support plans.
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
Desirable
  • Understanding of other differences, e.g. sensory and motor, which may impact communication strengths, traits, difficulties and needs.
  • Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
