Specification Sales Manager - Brick & Masonry

Industry

Industry Sector: Brick, Masonry, Heavyside Building Materials, Social Housing, Residential, Commercial, Education, Leisure, Cladding, Rainscreen, Facades, Renders, Building Envelope Systems, Curtain Walling, Brick-Slip, Architectural Cladding and all other External Building Products.

Area

Area to be covered: London (inside North and South Circular)

Remuneration & Benefits

Remuneration: £55,000-£60,000 + Uncapped Commission

Benefits: BMW or Tesla EV or Travel Allowance & Full Benefits

Responsibilities
  • Field sales position selling a distributed range of bricks and masonry products including pre-fabricated components
  • Architectural specification led role
  • Initially 100% of time selling into and influencing architects; once established, 70% architect focused and 30% dealing with D&B contractors, main contractors and sub contractors
  • Working on projects up to £10m
  • One established in the role (typically year 3) expected revenue target £3m+
  • Currently lots of social housing and residential projects, but can include most sectors; commercial, healthcare, education, leisure etc.
  • Typically 36+ customer visits per month
  • Emphasis on utilising our Clerkenwell showroom for client meetings and when not out on the road visiting customers
  • Initially new business development; you will retain all accounts won and will inherit a few existing customers
  • Managing the process from specification through to main contractor and ultimately the specialist bricklaying sub contractor
Requirements
  • Must have architectural specification field sales experience
  • Exterior building product backgrounds preferred; brick associated would be ideal
  • New business mentality, not afraid to pick up the phone to make appointments
  • Contacts within architectural practices in London is a massive advantage
  • Self-motivated and autonomous
  • Experience of managing relationships with D&B, main contractors or bricklaying specialist sub contractors is not essential but may be useful
  • Specific knowledge of brick and masonry systems is not essential
  • Open to both distribution and manufacturer field sales backgrounds
