About the Post

The Specialty Doctor will play an integral part of the day-to-day running of the Breast Unit. This post will be based at the Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea site (5 days) with flexibility to accommodate leave requirements of other team members.

Responsibilities
  • Attend outpatient clinics (4 half days per week).
  • Cover the Breast Unit specialist registrar when they are on the Institute of Cancer Research course or on study/annual leave.
  • Participate in the clinical research programme, including management of multi‑centre phase II/III studies.
  • Engage in audits, service evaluation and teaching activities.
Training and Development

This post provides specialised postgraduate training in medical and multidisciplinary aspects of breast tumour treatment, exposing the Specialty Doctor to a wide range of clinical problems and current clinical research.

Within the Royal Marsden/Institute of Cancer Research there is a strong emphasis on postgraduate teaching. In‑house meetings involve lectures, seminars, formal journal clubs and tutorials in both clinical and laboratory medicine, often in association with the Institute of Cancer Research.
