Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in the UK is seeking an Emergency Medicine Specialty Doctor to deliver high-quality emergency care and support the development of the department. The successful candidate will manage patient assessments and treatment, working closely with a team of experienced consultants and specialty doctors in a dynamic environment. This role offers flexibility in working patterns with up to 10 PAs available.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified doctor with GMC registration.
  • Experience in Emergency Medicine preferable.
  • Ability to work in a team and manage patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive clinical service to patients.

  • Participate in mandatory training programmes.

Job description
Emergency Medicine Specialty Doctor – South West London Acute

We are offering an exciting opportunity for doctors wishing to progress their career within Emergency Medicine as Specialty Doctors.

The successful candidate will be fully involved in all aspects of the work of the department under the supervision of the consultants and will attend to the initial assessment and treatment of the patients attending the department across the spectrum of Emergency Medicine.

Main Responsibilities and Duties
  1. The principal duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients.
  2. To at all times comply with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice' as amended or substituted from time to time.
  3. To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  4. To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your Clinical Director.
  5. To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
  6. On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's corporate Induction (or arranged Consultant Induction).
  7. To participate in the Trust's Statutory & Mandatory training programme.
  8. To be responsible for the Clinical Management of inpatients and outpatients under your care.
Working Pattern

The SpDrs work an attractive self‑roster rota covering 24hrs which allows everyone to balance their working lives with other responsibilities and interests. Up to 10 PAs are offered. There is protected SPA time.

Additional Context
  • Team consists of 17 Consultants and 26 Specialty Doctors/ST4+ cross‑site.
  • Consultant team has experience in all aspects of Emergency Medicine with specialist interests such as Paediatric EM, Research, USS, Trauma, Pre‑Hospital, Simulation and Education.
  • The Trust collaborates with St Helier Hospital, Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, Epsom Hospital, and partners in local health and care networks.
