Overview

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Community Palliative Care team invites applications for a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide expert care to patients with life‑limiting illness and complex needs in the community setting.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Consultants in Palliative medicine to deliver high‑quality palliative care.
  • Undertake medical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients in community.
  • Initiate appropriate medical care and prescribe in line with policies and guidelines.
  • Work with MDT to initiate appropriate investigations and treatment.
  • Provide telephone or remote support to the team or other health care professionals.
  • Communicate supportive messages with patients and their carers regarding disease and management.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and other professionals supporting patient care.
  • Record clinical notes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in CPD, appraisal and revalidation.
Requirements
  • Qualified as a medical doctor with registration in the UK.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car – domiciliary visits are required.
  • Strong ability to manage a busy workload, prioritise tasks and work effectively with indirect supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a dynamic multi‑disciplinary community team.
  • Confidence, flexibility and adaptability – thriving on challenges and variety.
  • Experience or training in palliative medicine is preferred but not mandatory.
