Job description
Specialist Pre School - Nursery Practitioner (Two posts)

Permanent Post • 38 hours per week: Monday to Friday • Term Time only

Location: Phoenix Centre, Wordsley DY8 5PY

Annual Salary £19,760.48 – pro rata averaged monthly pay = £1,646.71 per month
(Base Salary £12.25/hour = £18,921.75 per annum + holiday pay = £1,838.73 per annum)

An annual pay review is undertaken by the Trustees in March of each year.

Responsibilities and role overview: The individual will work within our outstanding special needs Early Years setting to support both staff and young children, ensuring the highest standards of care while fostering a nurturing and therapeutic environment.

The suitable candidates must have the following qualifications and experience:

  • An NVQ level 3 or higher qualification in childcare or equivalent
  • Experience of working in Early Years
  • Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework alongside the engagement for learning and welfare requirements, ensuring a safe, caring, stimulating environment to enable the social, emotional and educational development
  • Experience of setting up a wide range of activities for all areas of learning, particularly with children with SEN needs, using observations to assess progress and plan further activities to support individual development
  • Good understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection, Health and Safety, Food Safety, Confidentiality and Whistle Blowing
  • Experience of completing risk assessments, care plans and reporting accidents/incidents

Other requirements: The Phoenix Centre has a duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, promote British Values and have knowledge of the Prevent Duty. Successful applicants will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check (cost covered by the employer) and provide two satisfactory references prior to employment.
