Job description

Please note, at this stage, the role is open only to internal staff (including NHSP and Agency staff currently on placement within our organisation) and staff substantively employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Any individual who is at risk of redundancy will be given priority, provided they meet the essential criteria.

Responsibilities:

  • The post holder will maintain joint working practices between MHLD, in-patient, mainstream community mental health services and CLTD.
  • The post holder will work preventatively and supportively with people with a learning disability and mental health problems so that they enjoy a quality of life and maintain their place in the community.
  • The role will require working closely with our main stakeholders to provide an enhanced package of care that supports the management of mental health issues in a way that avoids the need for inpatient admission and prevents placement breakdown.
  • The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
  • Operate as a Specialist Nurse for CPA level clients (and where appropriate non-CPA level clients) with complex and diverse needs.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments, developing and reviewing care-plans.

We are seeking a dedicated Specialist Nurse to join our supportive Mental Health and Learning Disabilities (MHLD) team in East Kent. To work as a specialist nurse within the MHLD team. The post holder will work with people with a learning disability whose care requires co‑ordination due to complex needs. The post holder will support the development of mainstream clinicians’ skills in assessing and treating mental illness in people with Learning Disability.
