A UK-based NHS Trust is seeking a Specialist Clinical Scientist in Nuclear Medicine to provide specialist support at Northampton General Hospital. The successful candidate will lead a specialist area, supervise junior staff, and ensure compliance with safety and legislative standards. A registered Clinical Scientist and MPE with substantial experience in Nuclear Medicine is required. The role includes working autonomously with opportunities for research and development, while collaborating closely with clinical colleagues.
The University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust wishes to appoint a highly motivated Specialist Clinical Scientist within Nuclear Medicine. This role will be based at Northampton General Hospital in leading the provision of a Nuclear Medicine scientist service for University Hospitals Northamptonshire (UHN).
The successful applicant is expected to be a registered Clinical Scientist and MPE, with substantial experience across all areas of Nuclear Medicine. The UHN Nuclear Medicine service is provided over 2 sites – Northampton General Hospital (NGH) and Kettering General Hospital (KGH). It covers a wide range of diagnostic tests and therapeutic studies.
There are 4 gamma cameras across the 2 sites: 1 dedicated cardiac, 1 standard gamma camera and 2 others with CT capability. An onsite radiopharmacy is available at NGH. The molecular radiotherapy service includes iodine ablation therapy, thyrotoxicosis therapy and Xofigo.
Pet‑CT is provided at NGH by Alliance Medical Ltd for which UHL currently provide RPA, RWA and MPE services.
Full support will be provided from and access to the Nuclear Medicine team at UHL, including the Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics, Specialist Clinical Scientists and Clinical Scientists. Flexibility for time to spend in Nuclear Medicine at UHL will be provided, including onsite visits and remote working.
