A healthcare provider in London is seeking a motivated band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join its Blood Sciences team. The candidate must be HCPC registered with experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. Responsibilities include delivering clinical laboratory services, supervising staff, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Additional benefits include a salary of £46,419 to £55,046 plus a £4,000 recruitment premium. The position requires participation in shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring continuity and quality of care.
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic band 6 Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly and dedicated Blood Sciences team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. NWLP operates as a hub and spoke model for the provision of pathology services, with Chelsea and Westminster operating as one of the spoke sites.
The successful candidate will be expected to rotate through laboratory sections and appropriate training will be given. The laboratory is covered for 24 hours every day, and you would be expected to participate in the shifts including late and night shifts which contribute to the continuity and quality of care for patients in the Trust hospitals.
Applications are sought from self‑motivating individuals who are currently registered with the HCPC and possess post‑registration experience in a Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory with demonstrable morphology skills. Completion of the Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice and/or the IBMS Specialist Diploma will be essential. An MSc in a relevant subject will be desirable but not essential. Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills are also required.
Please note for this role – we will be giving an extra £4,000 on top of your salary payable in six terms monthly periods as part of our recruitment and retention premium (subject to conditions being met).

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
