An educational staffing agency in Crowborough is seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support students with various learning difficulties. The ideal candidate should be passionate about education and able to provide personalized support in identifying individual learning needs. Responsibilities include developing learning plans and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in students' lives and work closely with a dedicated team.
This is an East Sussex County Council maintained special school catering to approximately 155 children aged 4-19 with a variety of complex learning needs, including moderate, severe, or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Some students also have additional physical and/or sensory impairments, including autism.
Each child has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), which is tailored to their specific needs and curriculum-based targets. The school is committed to promoting independence and challenging students to achieve their best.
The staff are highly trained to support a wide range of needs, and the school benefits from regular input from Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Occupational Therapists through the Children's Integrated Therapy and Equipment Service (CITEs) within Kent NHS, commissioned by the local authority. Additionally, a Special Schools Nursing Sister from East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is on hand to support the health and wellbeing of the students.
