About the School

Are you a patient, nurturing, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs in a mainstream secondary school setting?

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Warrington that has a dedicated SEN department. The school is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide targeted 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs, including autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs, helping them access the mainstream curriculum while receiving tailored support.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a mainstream environment that values inclusion, consistency, and pupil wellbeing. Classroom experience is beneficial but not essential; however, knowledge and awareness of SEN is required.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN within a mainstream classroom
  • Support pupils to engage with lessons and access learning alongside their peers
  • Implement positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Work closely with subject teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff
  • Support pupils during break times and transitions, promoting inclusion and safety
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN support worker is advantageous
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties is desirable
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people
  • Willingness to work collaboratively within a mainstream school setting
To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Provide two professional, child-related references covering the last two years
