Sonographer

Permanent post- 22.5 hours- Cumberland Infirmary

Due to promotion of current post holder North Cumbria Integrated Care are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Sonographer to join our expanding, friendly team.

North Cumbria Integrated care comprises of two main hospital sites, the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle and the West Cumberland Hospital Whitehaven, with two smaller satellite sites. The Sonographer will be required to work within a team of Sonographers, Radiologists, and clerical staff and will be based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle with the possibility of working at other hospital sites when required. There will be requirement for weekend working on a rota.

Main duties of the job

Candidates must be HCPC registered or equivalent with a PgC/PgD in Medical Ultrasound being essential. We welcome applications from Sonographers who have undertaken a direct entry Ultrasound PGDip. Suitable candidates must have experience in covering Obstetrics, Gynaecology and General Abdominal scanning including small parts. Experience in Vascular and MSK is desirable but not essential. There are many opportunities for further training within our trust; a willingness to develop would be an advantage. We operate a Telemed service which links our Obstetric department to the Fetal Medicine Centre at the RVI so this post would be ideal for candidates with an interest in Fetal medicine.

There will be a requirement to train student sonographer's and other medical staff so a passion for teaching would be an advantage. You will need to be able to work independently, demonstrating a high level of competence and will need to have excellent communication skills.
