A day in the life of a Murphy Solutions Architect:
  • Design, implement and maintain end-to-end solutions that integrate internal and third-party systems across the enterprise.
  • Analyse current systems and develop integration architecture strategies to modernise and streamline processes.
  • Select and design middleware and messaging patterns (e.g., ESB, ETL, APIs, event‑driven architecture).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure functional and non‑functional requirements are understood and documented.
  • Lead architecture reviews and ensure alignment with enterprise IT strategy, security standards, and compliance needs.
  • Oversee the implementation of APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and real‑time data synchronisation.
  • Work closely with software engineers, infrastructure teams, and data architects to deliver unified solutions.
  • Ensure robust documentation of system designs, integration workflows, and architectural decisions.
  • Horizon scan and evaluate new tools, platforms, and technologies for potential adoption, advising the Group IT and Digital Director and developing proposals accordingly.
  • Establish and monitor compliance with architectural standards, development practices, and DevOps processes, addressing any issues as required.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams at all stages throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years recent experience working in solution architecture or senior systems design roles.
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with enterprise system integration, including REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, ESB, and ETL tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, Azure Logic Apps, and DataVerse.
  • Familiarity with integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Azure Logic Apps, Apache Camel, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, hybrid integration scenarios and security best practices.
  • Proficient in data modeling, messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and API design best practices (OpenAPI/Swagger).
  • Experience integrating ERP, CRM, HRIS, and other core business systems.
