The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Soldering Technician to join a busy electronics production environment. This position focuses on high-quality manual soldering work, assembling and modifying electronic assemblies in line with detailed technical instructions and recognised industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out hand soldering on printed circuit boards in accordance with documented build instructions.
  • Complete soldering work to recognised workmanship standards, including IPC-A-610 and J-STD guidelines.
  • Perform board modifications and rework where required, depending on experience.
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately, consistently, and to the required quality level.
  • Follow established processes and highlight any issues or potential improvements to supervision.
  • Work in line with quality management procedures and maintain accurate production records.
The Candidate
  • Trained to IPC-A-610 and J-STD standards (Class 3 preferred), with proven soldering ability.
  • Experience in manual soldering of electronic assemblies, primarily through-hole components, with some exposure to surface-mount work.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality workmanship.
  • Comfortable working from technical drawings and assembly documentation.
  • Knowledge of resistor colour codes and component identification desirable.
  • Current IPC certification and experience working to high-reliability standards would be advantageous but not essential.
Salary

£25,000 - £28,000 per annum, depending on experience
