My client a start-up SaaS provider is seeking a hands-on Backend QA Engineer. This role would suit those who are able to work autonomously, at a fast-pace with a forward thinking attitude.

Required

• Practical experience using API testing tools such as Postman, Insomnia, REST Client, or similar
• Ability to write basic test scripts in Python, JavaScript, or Bash
• Solid understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, and request / response formats
• Experience working with OpenAPI / Swagger specifications
• Strong attention to detail and a structured, systematic testing approach
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Experience organizing test suites and documenting test cases
• Demonstrated ability to uncover meaningful bugs and edge cases
• A collaborative attitude with a willingness to mentor and share knowledge with the team

Nice to Have

• SQL proficiency for validating data
• Experience handling API versioning and backward-compatibility considerations
• Understanding of authentication mechanisms such as OAuth, JWT, and API keys
• Knowledge of webhook testing and asynchronous API patterns
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks
• Awareness of performance and / or security testing practices
• Experience with observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing)
