Job summary

A leading defense technology company in the UK is looking for experienced Software Engineers to join their team in Winfrith near Dorchester. The successful candidates will apply software engineering methodologies throughout all stages of the development lifecycle, particularly with C++. Candidates should have knowledge of military systems, especially in maritime contexts. People with prior experience in defense and proven ability to attain security clearance (SC level minimum) are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience with C++ in a military/defense environment within the last 12 months.
• Familiarity with software design and development lifecycle.
• Ability to work with ISO 9001 and TickITplus standards.

Responsibilities

• Apply software engineering methods throughout the development lifecycle.
• Understand and apply Open Systems Architectures and Principles.
• Communicate effectively with both expert and non-expert stakeholders.

Software Engineers Permanent Roles - WINFRITH Nr Dorchester in Dorset

ROLE

• Application of a software engineering approach to undertake all tasks within a software development lifecycle utilising Object Oriented Design.
• Preferably have an understanding of military systems, in particular maritime systems eg Sonar.
• Software Engineering Lifecycle processes and tools.
• Understanding of Open Systems Architectures and Principles.
• Ability to solve complex problems and to critically review results and methods to ensure quality.
• Awareness of ISO 9001 and TickITplus standards.
• Understanding of software configuration management.
• Ability to communicate with expert and non-expert stakeholders.
• Ideally the candidate will have proven ability in one or more of the following industry areas
  • Defence
  • Maritime
  • Rail

• Primary Development: C++
