Software Engineer / Developer (AWS, Python, Terraform)
Location : UK (Hybrid / Remote – clearance dependent)
Security Clearance : SC or DV required
Engagement : Contract (Inside IR35)

The Role
We are working with a secure public-sector programme delivering mission-critical digital services used at national scale.
They are looking for an experienced Software Engineer / Developer with strong cloud-native engineering skills to design, build, and operate modern systems in highly regulated environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role — you will be writing production code, working closely with infrastructure, and contributing across the full delivery lifecycle.
Please note : Due to the nature of the work, active SC or DV clearance is mandatory .
What You’ll Be Doing
Designing and building cloud-native applications on AWS
Developing backend services and APIs , primarily in Python
Defining and maintaining infrastructure using Terraform
Working across the full SDLC : design, build, test, deploy, and operate
Collaborating with product, platform, and security teams in agile delivery
Supporting secure, scalable, and resilient systems in production
Contributing to CI / CD pipelines and operational best practices
Working on systems that matter — national services, defence, or critical infrastructure
Essential Skills & Experience
Active SC or DV clearance (non-negotiable)
Strong experience as a Software Engineer / Developer
AWS (e.g. Lambda, ECS / EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, API Gateway)
Python used in production environments
Terraform (infrastructure as code)
Experience building APIs and backend services
Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and cloud deployment
Comfortable working in secure or regulated environments
Nice to Have
Experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django , or similar frameworks
Exposure to frontend technologies (React, Next.js, Angular)
Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
Background in public sector, defence, or government programmes
Understanding of DevSecOps and cloud security best practices
Experience supporting live services at scale
