About the Role

We are looking for a talented Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our growing digital team in Manchester. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in building and evolving the platform that powers our template websites. You’ll work closely with designers, product owners, and other engineers to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions that drive dealer success and customer engagement.

Type: Contractor (3 month initial term)
Salary/Rate: Based on experience
Reports to: Technical Engineering Lead

Key Responsibilities
  • Platform Development: Design, build, and maintain the core platform for managing template websites, ensuring scalability, reliability, and compliance.
  • Template Engineering: Develop reusable, configurable website templates that support rapid deployment and customization for dealer partners.
  • Integration: Implement seamless integrations with internal and third-party systems (e.g., finance calculators, compliance modules, analytics).
  • Collaboration: Work with designers, product owners, and stakeholders to refine requirements, user journeys, and technical specifications.
  • Testing & Deployment: Develop and execute automated tests; support CI/CD pipelines for efficient and reliable releases.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use analytics, user feedback, and performance data to iterate and enhance platform features.
  • Compliance: Ensure all solutions meet FCA and industry compliance standards, including accessibility and security requirements.
  • Learning & Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, frameworks, and best practices in web platform engineering.
About You
Skills & Experience
Essential:
  • 3+ years’ experience in software engineering, ideally in a fast-paced or agency environment.
  • Strong proficiency in modern web development technologies (Vue/React, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node).
  • Experience building scalable, modular platforms or CMS solutions.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g. Azure, Cloudflare) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of web security, accessibility (WCAG), and SEO best practices.
  • Experience collaborating with designers and product teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Desirable:
  • Experience with template-driven website platforms or white-label solutions.
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry or financial services.
  • Familiarity with FCA compliance and financial product disclosure requirements.
  • Experience with analytics tools and data-driven development.
