Due to the secure nature of the programme you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be working on site near Basingstoke.

Your future duties and responsibilities

In this role you will lead the design and assessment of secure, resilient Defence applications ensuring solutions meet strict security compliance and performance standards. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams shaping architectures that support transformation programmes and guiding stakeholders through complex technical decisions. Your expertise will help drive innovation while maintaining the assurance required for secure environments.

You will take ownership of application assessments, work creatively with design partners and be supported by a strong engineering community as you define, deliver and transition solutions into production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead & Innovate: Drive secure-by-design application and data architectures for Defence programmes.
• Assess & Assure: Perform application technical assessments using installation and runtime analysis tools.
• Develop & Deliver: Design secure resilient applications and audit solutions aligned to security standards.
• Engage & Influence: Communicate technical direction to senior stakeholders and clients.
• Transform & Transition: Support solution definition, deployment and successful service transition.
• Optimise & Automate: Apply CI/CD automation tooling and Azure DevOps best practices.
• Model & Architect: Produce architectural models using ArchiMate and BizzDesign Enterprise Studio.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

To succeed you should bring deep experience designing and assessing secure applications, strong knowledge of Defence Secure‑By‑Design principles and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical high‑assurance solutions. You will be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and working collaboratively across design teams.

Essential qualifications

• SAFE Agile Practitioner certification
• Certification in BizzDesign Enterprise Studio (and Horizzon)
• Strong understanding of ArchiMate modelling principles
• Hands‑on experience with CIS Benchmarks and secure application configuration
• Proven ability to deliver secure production implementations and transitions
• Knowledge of automation tooling supporting CI/CD
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps including pipeline review and approvals
• Experience conducting technical assessments for secure environments
