Social Worker / Senior Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team

Grade 7/8: £37,280 – £47,181 per annum (pro‑rated), plus an Essential Car User Allowance of £1,239 per annum and a 2 % Recruitment and Retention Allowance paid monthly. Permanent/Part‑time – 18.5 hours.

Job Overview

Join Together for Children Sunderland, a workplace that has been rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted in 2021 and 2025. This role is based at the Sandhill Centre and allows you to support children and young people with complex needs, working directly with and from Child In Need, Child Protection and Care‑for plans.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, monitor and review Child In Need, Child Protection and Care‑for plans, including care proceedings.
  • Complete focused child assessments and collaborate with partner agencies to meet the complex needs of children and young people.
  • Deliver statutory children’s social care services, applying knowledge of social care legislation to secure best outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, partner agencies, children, young people and their families; work as an effective team player.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of one year’s post‑qualifying social work experience.
  • Completion of the ASYE is desirable but not essential.
  • Right to work in the UK by the commencement of employment.
