Overview

Job Title: Social Worker – Children in Care

Location: Wakefield

Pay Rate: £35 per hour

Job Description : Liquid Personnel is recruiting a Qualified Social Worker to join its client’s Children in Care (CIC) team based in Wakefield.

Responsibilities
  • Preventative Work: undertake preventative measures with service users to mitigate safeguarding concerns, including investigating significant harm concerns and using legislation effectively to ensure welfare of service users.
  • Social Work Service: deliver a Social Work service to individuals, their families, and carers, including assessing needs and addressing them through direct therapeutic work, care planning, and management; integrate theoretical approaches with practice.
  • Caseload Management: manage a caseload, make complex decisions in line with professional criteria, and ensure casework is planned, critically evaluated, and reviewed; engage with increasingly complex and challenging situations including multi‑agency input, complex family dynamics, multiple problems / disadvantages, multiple significant risk factors, and public interest considerations.
  • Care Provision: ensure appropriate care for service users by utilizing existing mainstream and specialist resources, demonstrating innovation where appropriate; take responsibility for and supervise service users who receive care services and conduct expert and robust reviews of such cases.
  • Expert Witness Role: act as an expert witness and provide evidence to courts and other relevant bodies, including presenting reports and applications for appropriate Legal Orders; collaborate with other agencies to deliver a Social Work service and represent the organization’s perspective.
  • Multi‑disciplinary Contributions: contribute to multi‑disciplinary assessments, lead meetings when required, participate in planning meetings and reviews, mentor newly qualified and less experienced Social Workers, and offer placements to Social Work students as a practice educator; manage a challenging caseload and seek support as needed.
