What you will do
  • Undertake Best Interests Assessments in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the DoLS Code of Practice.
  • Evaluate whether a person is being deprived of their liberty and determine if this is in their best interests.
  • Collaborate effectively with care providers, health professionals, advocates, and family members to gather crucial information.
  • Prepare clear, legally sound assessment reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure that all assessments and decisions uphold individuals’ human rights and autonomy.
  • Conduct person-centred assessments of adults’ needs and develop appropriate care and support plans.
  • Promote safeguarding and protect adults at risk, staying in line with local and national guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in accordance with professional standards.
  • Contribute to reviews, multidisciplinary meetings, and case conferences.
  • Provide expert advice and support to colleagues across Adult Services regarding capacity and DoLS-related matters.
  • Maintain registration with Social Work England and demonstrate continuous professional development.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in legislation, case law, and best practices around MCA, DoLS, and Liberty Protection Safeguards.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training as required.
