What you will do
- Undertake Best Interests Assessments in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the DoLS Code of Practice.
- Evaluate whether a person is being deprived of their liberty and determine if this is in their best interests.
- Collaborate effectively with care providers, health professionals, advocates, and family members to gather crucial information.
- Prepare clear, legally sound assessment reports and recommendations.
- Ensure that all assessments and decisions uphold individuals’ human rights and autonomy.
- Conduct person-centred assessments of adults’ needs and develop appropriate care and support plans.
- Promote safeguarding and protect adults at risk, staying in line with local and national guidance.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records in accordance with professional standards.
- Contribute to reviews, multidisciplinary meetings, and case conferences.
- Provide expert advice and support to colleagues across Adult Services regarding capacity and DoLS-related matters.
- Maintain registration with Social Work England and demonstrate continuous professional development.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in legislation, case law, and best practices around MCA, DoLS, and Liberty Protection Safeguards.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training as required.
