Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our Children with Disabilities Team, a dynamic and responsive group committed to supporting disabled children and their families. This role is integral to providing comprehensive social work services, from initial assessment to long‑term planning, with a strong focus on multi‑agency collaboration and early intervention. The successful candidate will work closely with other professionals to ensure the well‑being and development of children, guiding them from referral through to adult services if necessary. This position offers a £3000 annual market supplement and the opportunity to contribute to a team celebrated for its OUTSTANDING Ofsted outcome. The role is hybrid with a minimum of 3 days on site.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the needs of children with disabilities and their families.
  • Develop and oversee individualised plans, chairing meetings to ensure progress in collaboration with parents / carers and other professionals.
  • Utilise a variety of interventions to engage children and families, ensuring the child's voice is heard.
  • Develop and implement projects as directed by the Head of Service.
  • Support students on placement and newly qualified staff, with opportunities for further training.
  • Serve as a liaison for local specialist schools.
  • Provide a broad range of social care support, including Child-in-Need, Looked After Children, and Child Protection.
  • Conduct holistic assessments in line with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.
  • Prepare and present reports, contributing to multi‑agency conferences and meetings.
Requirements
  • Degree in social work with a relevant professional qualification.
  • Active registration with Social Work England and evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Understanding of factors affecting child development and ability to adapt to the needs of disabled children.
  • Experience handling cases involving various forms of abuse and neglect.
  • Knowledge of parental factors affecting child care and early warning signs of potential harm.
  • Familiarity with relevant theories and statutory legislation affecting children's services.
  • Experience in building partnerships and advocating for children and families.
  • Ability to use data and evidence to inform decision‑making.
  • Strong record‑keeping and report‑writing skills.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and collaborative working.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and software.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
