Social Science Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Camden - January 2026 Start

Are you a Social Science graduate eager to gain hands-on experience working with young people before pursuing a career in education, social work, youth engagement, or community support?

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a fantastic secondary school in Camden seeking a Social Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm) - ideal for graduates passionate about social development, inclusion, and supporting students to thrive both academically and personally.

Social Science Graduate Teaching Assistant - Role Overview
  • Support students with additional learning needs, such as autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, Pastoral Team, and external agencies to deliver targeted support and interventions.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group assistance, helping students build confidence, social skills, and academic progress.
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive and positive learning environment where every student can succeed.
  • Encourage students' emotional wellbeing, resilience, and social awareness through positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches.
  • Gain valuable, hands‑on experience relevant to careers in education, social care, youth work, or community development.
Requirements
  • A recent Social Science graduate (e.g., Sociology, Criminology, Education Studies, Anthropology, Social Policy, or a related field).
  • A genuine interest in working with young people and supporting those with additional needs.
  • Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
