A specialist school in Swindon are looking for a Social and Emotional Support Assistant to join their team, providing care and support to students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

This specialist setting offers a nurturing and inclusive environment for students who face significant barriers to learning. Many of the students struggle with self-regulation, anxiety, trauma, and attachment difficulties. As a Social and Emotional Support Assistant, you will provide them with the emotional and educational tools they need to thrive both in and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Providing 1:1 and holistic support tailored to students with SEMH and learning needs.
  • Supporting students with self-expression, emotional regulation and managing behaviour positively.
  • Building consistent, trusting relationships with students to foster emotional safety.
  • Identify pupils who are emotionally dysregulated and support them with any challenges they face.
  • Help build academic, emotional and social skills.

The school are looking for a Social and Emotional Support Assistant who is empathetic, patient and has an understanding of emotional and behavioural needs. Previous experience working with children would be beneficial, as well as experience supporting in challenging environments. A degree in Psychology or Criminology would also be relevant.
