Skilled Welder / Fabricator

Location: Isle of Wight

Type: Full-time Temp to Perm

About the Role

Pertemps are recruiting for a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join a well-established manufacturing workshop on the Isle of Wight. This role requires strong welding and fabrication expertise, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work to tight tolerances across a range of materials and project types.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality TIG and MIG welding on Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, and Aluminium.


• Willingness to complete welder qualifications as required.

Carry out full fabrication processes including but not limited to:

• Plate and tube preparation


• Cutting, grinding, deburring


• Drilling, tapping, countersinking


• Rolling and general bench work

• Read and interpret technical drawings accurately, working consistently to strict tolerances.


• Ensure all fabricated components meet required finishes and dimensional accuracy, applying industry techniques to account for distortion, spring‑back, and other common fabrication factors.


• Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem‑solving skills.


• Maintain a clean, safe working area and follow all workshop health & safety procedures.


• Inspect completed work to ensure precision and consistency prior to third‑party quality checks.

Skills & Experience Required

• Time‑served Welder/Fabricator with a minimum of 5 years’ experience (preferred).


• Strong TIG and MIG welding capability across a range of material thicknesses (0.9mm – 25mm).


• Confident working with Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, and Aluminium.


• Skilled in drilling, tapping, forming, rolling, cutting, and other core fabrication processes.


• Ability to work effectively from engineering drawings and to tight tolerances.


• Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.


• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small, dedicated team.


• Experience using workshop machinery such as rollers, folders, pillar drills, grinders, and saws.

Desirable

• Existing coded welding qualification(s) or willingness to undertake coding as part of the role.


• Experience supporting prototype builds or bespoke one‑off projects.
