Overview

We are AMS, a global total workforce solutions firm offering the Contingent Workforce Solution (CWS) as an extension of your recruitment team and delivering professional interim and temporary resources.

On behalf of Rolls‑Royce, AMS is currently recruiting for a high‑volume of Skilled Inspector positions as part of Engine Overhaul Services (Maintenance & Overhaul Business) in Derby.

These positions are available for an initial 12‑month contract based at the Derby site following a 7‑day working shift pattern, with potential for 2‑shift Mon‑Fri roles.

Role Summary

Skilled Inspector – Inspect engines and modular assemblies using Engine Manuals, Work Instructions, Technical Information drawings and other supplied information, ensuring all engine components are serviceable or require repair/ replacement.

The Skilled Inspector will work as part of the overhaul team to raise non‑conformances, over‑check critical build assemblies, and ensure the engine configuration meets customer and regulatory requirement while meeting performance targets and delivery commitments.

Working in a compliant manner to ensure products are built to the correct technical and quality specifications, maintaining high standards of Health & Safety at all times and contributing to continual improvement processes for the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspection of engines and modular assemblies following Engine Manuals, Work Instructions and Technical Information drawings.
  • Identification and reporting of non‑conformances, overchecking critical build assemblies, and ensuring correct engine configuration to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Meeting performance targets and customer delivery commitments while working within deadlines.
  • Maintaining compliance with technical and quality specifications and ensuring Health & Safety standards are upheld.
  • Participating in continuous review and improvement processes and identifying best practice.
  • Working in collaboration with Quality & Engineering functions daily to achieve high standards of air‑worthiness.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Completed a recognised time‑served apprenticeship evidenced with an NVQ Level 3 & Technical Certificate at Level 3 or above or equivalent international qualification.
  • Equivalent qualifications gained through service within the Armed Forces are acceptable if they meet the requirement.
  • Demonstrated experience using a variety of engineering equipment and interpreting engineering drawings and instructions to achieve required product quality.
  • Relevant inspection experience in working with engine or complex assembly components.
  • Knowledge of lean principles and process basics.
  • Must be able to provide all certifications before interview.
