Job summary

A leading engineering support employer in the UK is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to oversee subcontract works and provide cost estimates. The role involves conducting valuations, preparing final accounts, and supporting site teams across multiple projects. Applicants should have strong experience in cost forecasting and analysis within a project environment. This position is onsite and may require attendance at various locations for meetings.

Job description

Functionally reporting to the Construction Leader and operationally reporting to the Project Director or Project Manager of the relevant projects. In addition the QS will work closely with, and support the GE Contracts Management team.

Whist the role is site based, attendance at Stafford and other locations for project meetings may be required.

The main duties of the Quantity Surveyor will be associated with the Civil and M&E Subcontracted works.

The main duties
  • Carrying out monthly valuation of the subcontract works, in line with the contract requirements and time scales.
  • Make recommendations for interim payments to Subcontractor
  • Value variations and dayworks submitted by subcontractor
  • Prepare final account of Subcontract works
  • Provide cost forecast for completing the project as instructed by the PM
  • Provide Site Manager / Management Team with cost estimates for variations instructed by the client.
  • Provide UK Grid Solutions Team at Stafford with cost analysis of the Project (Forecast vs Actual progress in cost terms)
  • Provide estimates for the cost impact of varying or accelerating the work
  • Assist the site team by providing cost support and preparing estimates for proposed work or what if scenarios to inform decision making.
  • Assist the Site Construction teams with a cost impact of TQ’s etc
  • Notify the Project Director / Manager and Contracts Manager of any early warning notices etc received from Subcontractor.
  • General support to the GSI Construction site team as required

Work on more than one project at a time may be required, depending on work load and the stage of the projects.
