  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering works including earthworks, concrete, drainage, and foundations.
  • Experience working to SPEN or other DNO standards is essential.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to deliver civil engineering works on SPEN substation projects across Central Scotland. You will be responsible for managing site activities, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects within the power sector, with ongoing work secured across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day management of civil works on live SPEN substation sites
  • Ensuring full compliance with SPEN standards, health & safety legislation, and company procedures
  • Planning and coordinating labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors
  • Delivering works to programme and budget
  • Completing site documentation including RAMS, permits, daily diaries, and progress reports
  • Liaising with clients, project managers, engineers, and SPEN representatives
  • Managing quality control and ensuring works meet specification
  • Proactively identifying and resolving site issues
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Civils Site Manager on substation or power infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering works (earthworks, concrete, drainage, ducting, foundations)
  • Experience working to SPEN (or other DNO) standards - essential
  • SMSTS (or SSSTS with significant experience)
  • CSCS Card (Management level preferred)
  • Temporary Works awareness (TWC/TWS desirable)
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
