Site Manager - Highways

Location: Didcot, Oxfordshire

Salary: £65,000 + £6,000 Car Allowance + Package

Are you an experienced Site Manager with a strong civil engineering background and proven experience delivering highways schemes? Our client, a well-established construction company with a strong reputation across multiple sectors, is looking for a Site Manager to join their team in Didcot. As a key partner in the National Highways supply chain, this is an excellent opportunity to be part of significant infrastructure projects with a respected employer.

The Role: As Site Manager, you will take a leading role on site, working closely with the Project Manager to deliver works safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities
  • Managing and mentoring Site Engineers and Section Engineers.
  • Supporting the Project Manager in planning and driving the construction phase of projects.
  • Allocating and controlling project resources.
  • Reviewing and compiling work package and management plans.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, to budget, and in line with programme requirements.
  • Liaising with the Planning department to obtain accurate programme data.
  • Managing subcontractors and suppliers to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Overseeing Health & Safety compliance and promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Preparing daily briefings, site diaries, and supporting commercial reporting.
  • Assisting with quality, environmental, and project close-out documentation.
About You
  • Proven experience in a Site Manager role within civil engineering, ideally highways.
  • Strong technical knowledge, with excellent understanding of NEC contracts.
  • HNC or higher in Civil Engineering.
  • Demonstrable leadership and communication skills.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • SMSTS and First Aid at Work qualifications.
  • Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
Desirable
  • Experience managing highways schemes.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator and/or CPCS Appointed Person (Lifting) training.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
