Job description
We’re looking for a dedicated Site Manager

We are looking for a dedicated Site Manager to be based at Yate Academy, while overseeing management of the school sites at Yate Academy, Woodlands Primary and Tyndale Primary Schools, all part of Greenshaw Learning Trust.

The successful candidate will have a great work ethic, be able to manage the school sites and associated staff, work in a team, prioritise workload and work independently, oversee external contractors and the site team. They will ensure premises health and safety standards are maintained, proactively seek improvements and help the school maintain a good public image. This post is suited to an enthusiastic, self‑motivated individual with a positive, ‘can‑do’ attitude.

Main duties & responsibilities
  • Act as the main keyholder, responsible for security including opening and locking premises, extended school provision, lettings and emergency call‑outs, training a suitable second keyholder, remaining contactable outside normal hours and responding to emergencies. This duty also covers Woodlands and Tyndale primary schools.
  • Provide a range of re‑decoration and maintenance work agreed with the school principal to ensure a high standard of repair and decoration across the school.
  • Manage the site team in maintaining a safe and clean external environment – gritting, litter picks, waste collection and removal, graffiti removal, safe access routes and keeping drains free of obstruction.
  • Keep accurate online records and paperwork relating to building, plant, and equipment servicing and maintenance.
  • Use the online helpdesk system to record and respond to job requests, plan work and direct site activities.
  • Arrange for maintenance work to be carried out by suitably qualified contractors, monitor their safety practices, report on quality and follow up on failures or further work required.
  • Carry out Health and Safety checks – fire, asbestos, legionella, vehicles – maintaining up‑to‑date records under the Regional Estates Manager’s direction.
  • Act as Fire Warden, safely lead the school in a fire event and prepare the school for emergencies.
