Job Description

Cadent is the UK's largest Gas Distribution Company, operating 4 of the 8 UK Gas Distribution Networks (East of England, London, NorthWest and West Midlands). Their service spans over 131,000 kilometres of pipes supplying to 11 million homes & businesses. Costain is the preferred bidder for the East of England Construction Management organisation (CMO). Central to Costain's role will be the strategic planning and programme management of Cadent's capital investment programme, with a focus on delivering improved regulatory performance and future proofing the network for the benefit of Cadent's customers.

To coordinate personnel / local delivery partners (LDP's), site management, customer care officers, supervision, and technical support in delivering construction activities (replacement, reinforcements, diversions, multiple occupancy buildings, reinstatement, etc.) across the East of England network. Maximise customer experience, ensuring Costain's commitments to Cadent are met, and customer initiatives are prioritized. Promote high standards of safety and compliance, leading by example.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate and promote high safety standards, leading by example.
  • Develop and monitor a work program ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and compliant with legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Act as a competent person for Flow Stopping and Commissioning Operations in line with Cadent procedures.
  • Manage supply chain performance to meet contract objectives.
  • Engage with local authorities to promote Cadent activities.
  • Manage engineering teams to optimize operations and meet business objectives.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and safety, with regular audits and inspections.
  • Support the Area Manager in identifying improvements and leading initiatives.
  • Engage staff through team talks, safety briefings, and development activities.
  • Handle customer queries, claims, and complaints professionally.
  • Report and investigate incidents, close out remedial actions.
  • Work towards Temporary Works Supervisor duties for temporary works operations.
  • Monitor performance and foster a safety culture aiming for an Injury Free Environment.
  • Participate in standby and call-out duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Gas supervisory experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Leadership and influencing skills.
  • Site management experience.
  • Strong safety and customer service standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, safety, and statutory regulations.
  • Experience in delivering safe and compliant work.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Operational experience relevant to SCO procedures is beneficial.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent Person for routine operations (SCO5), Authorising Engineer (SCO2), Temporary Works Supervisor (BS5975), NRSWA Supervisor, SHEA Gas, Deep Excavation, Working at Height, UMSTS/SMSTS.
