Overview

Job Title: Site Manager
Location: Chelmsford
Contract: Permanent


We are currently recruiting two experienced Site Managers for a major infrastructure scheme in Chelmsford on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor. The project, commissioned by Southend City Council, includes:



  • Bridge demolition and structural works


  • Extensive earthworks and drainage installation


  • Roundabout and junction remodelling


  • Traffic signal installation


  • Infill works and surfacing




Responsibilities


  • Manage site operations across multiple live projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and within programme


  • Support the project team in planning and delivery strategy


  • Coordinate subcontractors and internal teams, ensuring work meets technical and quality standards


  • Contribute to early contractor involvement (ECI), risk assessments, and buildability reviews


  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ)


  • Maintain progress reports, site records, and communicate updates to senior management


  • Work closely with commercial teams to manage cost forecasting and subcontract packages


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders




Requirements


  • Proven experience as a Site Manager in civil engineering/infrastructure projects


  • Excellent knowledge of drainage, earthworks, and general civils


  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to coordinate across multiple workstreams


  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and cost management is an advantage


  • Valid SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications


  • Full UK driving licence




Salary & Package


  • Base Salary: £55,000 (DOE)
