Job summary

Are you an experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking ODP or Registered Nurse looking for your next challenge? We are offering a fantastic 12-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity to join our dynamic team within The Christie Theatres, taking on a leadership role in Anaesthetics and/or Recovery.

Our specialist oncology theatre suite provides a unique environment where you will be involved in a wide range of procedures, including Colorectal, Plastic, Urology, and Gynaecology surgery, as well as supporting our highly specialised Brachytherapy department. This is a chance to broaden your expertise while making a real impact on patient outcomes in one of Europe's leading cancer centres.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a registered practitioner (RGN or ODP) with the appropriate qualifications and evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience in Adult Anaesthetics and Recovery
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Be highly motivated, organised, and proactive, with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Bring strong leadership skills, with teaching and assessing experience considered desirable.

You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week, across 4 or 5 days, with flexibility required to cover the service over Monday to Saturday. The role also includes participation in the out-of-hours on-call rota.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • 1st level Registered Nurse or Operating department Practitioner.
  • Diploma level education in relevant practice.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Anaesthetic Qualification.
  • Mentorship qualification
  • ALS or willing to complete

Experience:

  • Experience in Anaesthetics and Recovery.
  • Able to demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Experience in the use medical devices.

Skills:

  • High level of physical skills.
  • Dexterity and accuracy when using medical devices and assisting procedures.

Knowledge:

  • Specialist knowledge of Surgical theatre practice.
  • Knowledge of current theatre issues.
