Job summary

Job description
Overview

Reporting to the Unit Manager, assists in leading and managing the clinical team, delegates work to junior staff and participates in the management of the department and the development of care systems as directed by the Line Manager. Responsible for the assessment of care need and the development, implementation and evaluation of patient care, establishing evidence based practice. Deliver enhanced nursing skills within renal care pathway. The post is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team, involving specialist nursing skills and leadership competencies and which contributes to the effective and economical use of available resources.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in leading and managing the clinical team; delegate work to junior staff; participate in department management and development of care systems as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate patient care, establishing evidence based practice; deliver enhanced nursing skills within the renal care pathway.
  • Act as part of the multidisciplinary team, applying specialist nursing skills and leadership competencies.
  • Assist with the effective use of resources in the clinical area; no direct budgetary control; supervise staff on a day to day basis as directed by the Line Manager.
Qualifications and experience
  • Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register
  • Post registration Degree equivalent or higher desirable
  • Management experience in a renal setting would be an advantage
  • Previous post registration experience at band 5 level with significant renal experience
  • Mentor qualification or equivalent
  • Evidence of current CPD
