Job description

The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, standards setting within the department and will be responsible for the deployment, supervision and teaching of students and other staff.The post holder is accountable for their Ward or Department and will:Promote and monitor safe and effective practice.Enhance the patient/client experience.Provide effective leadership and management.Contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s strategies and objectives.The post holder will promote and support effective team working, fostering a culture of openness and transparency.The post holder will ensure that they take all concerns raised with them seriously and act in accordance with: The Code (NMC 2018) particularly sections 16 and 17 as well as the Employer’s Raising Concerns Policy.Participate in the provision of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) training and competency development in paediatric nurses.Please visit www.jobs.hscni.net to see Job Description and Personnel Specification.

Responsibilities

Skills and Qualifications
  • Be a registered nurse on Part 1 Level 1 of NMC Register (Child Branch).
  • 3 years’ experience within Paediatric Haematology Oncology, with 2 years’ experience at a Band 6. OR 5 years’ experience within Paediatric Haematology Oncology.
  • Must have completed externally recognised university-accredited oncology training (minimum 20 credits at first degree level) or equivalent as described in the NHS England Children’s Cancer Measures 2014.
