Job description

We are looking for an experienced and dependable Shunter Driver to support depot operations by safely moving trailers in and out of loading bays. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth flow of goods and efficient loading/unloading activities.

The primary responsibility is to position trailers correctly: when a driver removes a loaded trailer from a depot door, the shunter will replace it by moving the next empty trailer into position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Move, park, and position trailers within the depot yard safely and efficiently
  • Ensure the correct trailer is placed on the correct depot door at the right time
  • Remove full trailers and replace them with empty trailers as required
  • Conduct basic visual checks on trailers before shunting
  • Communicate effectively with the traffic office, warehouse staff, and drivers
  • Follow all yard safety rules and site procedures
  • Maintain clean and safe working areas
  • Report any vehicle or trailer defects immediately
Requirements
  • Valid C+E (Class 1) Driving Licence
  • Previous shunting or yard driving experience preferred
  • Strong awareness of depot safety procedures
  • Good communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather
The Offer
