Job Title: Shift Manager
Location: Norfolk
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: 24/7 rotating shifts (4 on 4 off/ Days & Nights)
Are you an experienced Shift Manager with a background in chemical or process manufacturing? This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment, managing a team of operators and supervisors to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of operators and supervisors, ensuring performance, development, and engagement.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and deployment of resources to meet production demands.
- Monitor production output, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support training and competency development, ensuring all team members are fully qualified and capable in their roles.
- Take an active leadership role in health, safety, and environmental compliance, including incident investigations and audits.
- Act as Site Main Controller or Site Incident Controller in the event of a site emergency.
- Collaborate with planning, maintenance, and support departments to resolve issues and minimise downtime.
About You — Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory or shift management role within manufacturing or a process-driven environment (chemical industry experience preferred).
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in performance management and employee development.
- Good understanding of training and competency frameworks in a regulated environment.
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade 5 or above.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desirable
- NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in a unionised or regulated environment.
- National apprenticeship (SMT/PIMT) mentor competency.
- NVQ assessor qualification.
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.
- SAP user experience
