Job description
Overview

Allen & York are delighted to be working with a global chemicals company who are now looking to recruit a Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Manager as part of the site Senior Leadership Round Table, managing the team of Safety, Environment, Health and Quality and driving standards for SHEQ across the site to ensure compliance with UK standards and legislation.

Our client is the world's leading manufacturer of their product, which is used in a variety of different applications in both the commercial and domestic markets.

Reporting to the European SHEQ Director with a dotted line to the Site Director, this role plays a significant part in the development and promotion of SHEQ across the site, ensuring the culture and strategy are maintained and continually improving towards world-class standards onsite.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Safety, Environment, Health and Quality team and drive standards for SHEQ across the site, ensuring compliance with UK standards and legislation.
  • Lead on significant projects, liaising and collaborating with global teams where relevant to achieve alignment in standards and approach.
  • Build mutually beneficial relationships with peers and colleagues across departments and functions.
  • Use experience in manufacturing or process-driven environments on a high-hazard site to inform decisions and improvements.
  • Demonstrate a track record of managing and developing teams, driving high performance, collaboration and strong team ethics.
  • Enrol individuals from all levels, acting as an energetic and imaginative leader who challenges the norm and drives improvement in self, team and company standards and values.
  • Show proactive methodology and a track record of achievement, leading from the front with a strategic vision for the future, and strong influencing and communication skills on the shop floor and in SLT meetings.
Qualifications
  • Degree (most likely in a STEM subject).
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH or working towards Chartered status.
  • Experience in a similar risk profile environment including petrochemical, engineering, or hazardous industrial settings.
Location and travel

Based in the North of England on the Humber, you will be required to work on site every day due to the nature of the role and the fact you are managing the team, but there is the option to work from home on occasion. You’ll need to be within driving distance of the site and hold a valid driving licence. Some infrequent European travel may also be required.
