The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in setting out, specifically on commercial RC frame projects. A competitive hourly rate of £250 to £270 is offered for this temporary role, which may extend for the right candidate. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of setting-out experience.
• Experience with projects over £25m.
• SSSTS or SMSTS, CSCS required.

Job description

Overview

Time 4 Recruitment have an opportunity for a temporary Setting out Engineer located in Selly Oak for a well-established, main contractor in the UK. Our client specialises in key construction projects including new build and refurbishments of hotel and leisure, commercial, industrial, health and education.

Responsibilities

• General setting out for RC frame projects, groundworks drainage, manholes, bore hole chambers, surface water, service trenches, boreholes, ground beams, retaining walls, sheet piles, capping beams, slabs and relevant tests and as-built documentation, transition roads and curbs.
• Surveying and investigation works.
• Report to Site Manager.
• Liaise with subcontractors and ensure compliance with H&S requirements on site.
• Ensure the quality of works meets the client’s demands.
• Travel/commute considerations: within easy commute of Birmingham.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 5 years of setting-out experience.
• Experience on commercial and RC frame projects – ideally hotels and student accommodation.
• Main contracts experience in projects in excess of £25m.
• Proven track record with previous employers confirming length of service and continuity of employment.
• Ability to use Leica TS16, Leica equipment and robotic surveying equipment.
• SSSTS or SMSTS, CSCS.

Project Details

Project: multi-story RC frame, 500+ bedroom student accommodation with commercial units.

Location: Selly Oak (Birmingham area).

Duration: up to 12 months with potential extension for the right candidate.

Start Date

Immediate start for the right candidate: Thursday 2 October 2025 or Friday 3 October 2025.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly rate: between £250 and £270 per day.
• Weekly pay.
• Temporary role up to 12 months, with potential long-term opportunity for the right candidate.
