Description

No day will be the same - here are some of the highlights

We have an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified Accountant to join the Good Energy Services Finance team at a pivotal period of our growth journey. Following the acquisition of several solar installation companies, you’ll play a key role in bringing the Solar business’ accounts in-house and supporting the smooth integration into our central Finance function.

Working closely with an Accounts Assistant, you’ll provide hands-on support for our growing Good Energy Solar North region while also contributing to wider group activities such as audit and budgeting. This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same, so we’re looking for someone adaptable, proactive, and confident navigating change as our Services division evolves.

Responsibilities
  • Month-end reporting: Own the preparation of monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Reconciliations & controls: Maintain strong financial controls through regular reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
  • Finance systems (Xero): Support accurate financial records, help optimise processes, and provide guidance on Xero queries.
  • Solar finance support: Partner with the Solar team on revenue recognition, invoicing, AR, and other finance queries, while guiding and developing an Accounts Assistant.
  • Audit & compliance: Assist with audits, prepare required documentation, and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Budgeting & forecasting: Contribute to forecasting and budget processes, particularly around revenue recognition and contract linkages.
  • Expenses & administration: Support expense processing and ad-hoc finance tasks, keeping financial records accurate and well-organised.
What you'll need to succeed

We’re looking for a talented, fully qualified accountant who combines strong technical skills with a practical, hands-on approach. You’ll be highly organised, adaptable, and confident working in a fast paced, changing environment. You’ll thrive when supporting both finance colleagues as well as wider teams across the business.

Essentials:

  • Comfortable spending 50% of your time on site in our Lincoln office.
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, including month-end reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
  • Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong reconciliation skills, with the ability to spot and resolve discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Clear communicator, able to explain finance matters to non-financial colleagues.
  • Solid attention to detail with accuracy in reporting.

Desirables:

  • Knowledge of Xero is an advantage.
  • Experience in installation or stock-based businesses, with an understanding of related tax implications (e.g. CIS), is desirable.
Benefits you can rely on

Great allowances for hybrid working: £500 work from home allowance - an annual allowance paid monthly alongside your salary to support with working from home costs.

£500 travel allowance: an annual allowance paid monthly alongside your salary to support with travelling to work costs.

£500 annual development allowance: to spend on your chosen development area, whether that’s in your current role, or future roles.

Holiday: 25 days annual leave, a day off for your birthday, additional days leave for long service, plus bank holidays. You’ll also have the option to buy additional leave, allowing for a better work-life balance.

Ethical Pension with Aviva: Good Energy offers an ethical pension plan provided by Aviva, with employer-matched contributions up to 7.5% of your base salary.
