We are seeking a dynamic individual to support the cancer centre team. This role provides the opportunity for team management, pathway oversight and direct involvement with the clinical teams for service improvement reviews. We are looking for someone to work in a part‑time position (30 hours per week on a permanent contract). This role will be working from the UHS site on a permanent basis.

We are seeking an experienced team‑player with advanced communication skills that has proven experience in a healthcare setting.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
  • Working with the Cancer Centre Management Team and Trust Lead Cancer Clinician, the post holder will provide administrative and operational support for cancer services at UHS. These include both inpatient and outpatient‑based services.
  • Be responsible for the management and supervision of the Cancer Centre administrative & clerical team.
  • To fully understand the data interpretation and collection requirements and to support all validation processes.
  • To identify areas for service improvement and work with the team on projects to improve service delivery, and data accuracy.
  • To manage specific projects as required by the cancer centre management team and deputise for the Operations Manager when required.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
  • Health and physical abilities sufficient for the post (if necessary, with reasonable adjustments with respect to the Equality Act/Disability Discrimination Act)
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in relevant business / project management or administration discipline. Post graduate level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Proven track record of project monitoring & management – including formulation, monitoring and adjustment of project plans and organisation of workshops and MDT meetings
  • Proven record of information system management
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office software for the analysis, interpretation and communication / presentation of complex issues
  • Service improvement experience – evidence of service and / or policy proposal, development and implementation
  • Ability to develop and implement (project) monitoring, tracking and (data) quality assurance systems and audits
  • Experience of monitoring and working within set budget for own area of work
  • Ability to logically and accurately interpret and analyse complex situations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff at all levels of the organisation (as well as external stakeholders including patients as required)
  • Reliable and flexible; able to work flexibly to accommodate peaks in activity as per service needs
  • Able to travel between sites to attend meetings, workshops etc. – Primarily Royal South Hants Hospital, Countess Mountbatten House and Southampton General Hospital.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of cancer pathways, national targets and clinical pathways, key issues and role within the organisation and local health economy
  • Knowledge & experience of specialist software packages (CAMIS, eCAMIS, PACS, eQuest, eWrapper, Aria, MOSAIQ etc.)
  • Experienced Healthroster software user
